Choices

I like to think every morning when I wake up that I have a “mission” to accomplish.  There is always the normal responsibilities that come  with everyday life….working, taking care of kids, planning meals, and the list goes on.  I am very disciplined with planning my day and getting my training scheduled in.  The one thing I loose site of is the most important yet so obvious, WHY DO I RUN?  You wear yourself out physically and mentally but then you have to step back and remember why you got here in the first place.  What am I really trying to pursue?  I started ultra running 3 years ago because I was so impressed by how my mind quieted and God spoke to me while I was running.  I did not have to get on my knees and pray…..running was praying for me.  My choice to pursue this passion was given to me and guided but I do loose sight of the reason I am pursuing this CHOICE!  Yes, as Robin my massage therapist stated, “Life is a marathon NOT a sprint.”  Oh Yeah!!!!! So true!!!  It is like getting slapped in the face and realigning your soul to what your choices have been made.  Thank you Robin!!!  I believe I have come into mortality with a mission in life and I will pursue my life unto its natural end!

What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good ?  Psalms 34:12    I love each and everyday I am here on earth.  I choose to make choices to help another.  I am blessed to have all of you!  It feels like I have had a week of sleep that I have needed !!!  Thank you my friends.

Effort and Exercise

I am always questioned on why I continue to try harder.  Most people think that with continuous effort you will remain the same.  That isn’t farthest from the truth.  I try different strategies to strengthen my own.  I fight exhaustion from daily responsibilities with being a provider, a wife, a mother, and a friend.  I look at others who can help change my direction in exercising and I access it and grow with what my needs require.  I try to stay positive in every manner and I find that you will grow so much by doing so.  Put the effort into your heart.  Your spirit will soar with continuous growth.

Exercising and Attitude

Attitude is a state of the mind.  It is how you think about what you are doing.  It has a powerful influence on behavior.  The emotional part is how does exercise make you feel?  It empowers me and makes  me feel so strong.  It calms my mind and takes all the worries away.  My thoughts and beliefs are strong with working out.  It must be a part of your daily routine as is eating and nourishing the body.  I believe it is like praying.  It brings you back to who you are.  It gives your body a feeling of, “Being Alive”.  I feel I need to take care of my body in all aspects.  It makes growing old so much more eloquent. You must believe you can do it before you can.   I refuse to stay the same everyday.  I will grow stronger in strength and spirit.

Rainy training day

I spent 20 miles running in the rain today.  It reminded me of the 2012 Florida  Keys100 race and it rained 9.5 hours!  I has blisters everywhere!  What did I learn today?   Get a new raincoat, take more fuel ( my body needs about 50 grams of carbs per hour) and bring a pair of dry socks and dry shoes!  Always something to learn during your long endurance runs!  Five weeks until the race!  I cannot wait!  Getting excited!

Thankful

A special, “Thank you” to all who have supported my running! I especially want to thank Spencer, my husband, best friend who spends every weekend trailing behind me on a bike to make sure I am not getting bit by a dog or followed by a stranger when I am running 4-6 hours a day. I have never given up. Here is a favorite quote of mine because I was blessed enough to find him in this life.

Strong and Ready

Worked eight hours, easy 90 minute run, one hour heavy weights with Dr. Thea.  I have learned a great deal from what I have done wrong, and what I have done right.  I am following a strict diet to get to race weight.  {Want to lose 5 more pounds}  My mind is ready with meditation and positive reinforcement .  Six weeks to go to get even further along with my training……….

Yoga after a long weekend run

Monday was Yoga day and entering the class I did not know if I could do it my legs were so tired.  What I found out was that it brought more energy back into my body and I reconnected my spirit , body and mind.  The results of the class left my muscles flexible and elongated.  I’m going to try and incorporate this twice a week!  Loved how I felt after!
